Apart from being the closest, easy to get to city by my hometown (Houston), Austin holds a very special place in my heart.
I remember my parents taking us when were kids to Barton Springs and to explore around town. It was a city I escaped to several times after getting my drivers license. When my husband and I were dating, it was our place to go for the weekend or just for the day. It was where he proposed on one of those said day trips with a surprise picnic he planned at Mount Bonnell. It was where we got married at the gorgeous, quaint venue, Hummingbird House. It was where we took our fur child, Bowie, to his first trip out of town since it’s such a dog friendly city.
This has been a highly requested post and one I get asked on several occasions. I have planned many Austin trips for friends, family and several others, it just felt appropriate to finally create it for anyone to refer back to and use a guide.
From its great scenery, hilly roads and not to mention delicious food & coffee, there’s never a shortage of ideas to add to the itinerary. Though there’s SO much to choose from, here are our personal favorites that we frequent anytime we’re in town and would highly recommend.
